Pakistani, Kuwaiti & Malaysian teams arrive |

Dhaka--(UNB) – Three foreign teams — Pakistan, Kuwait and Malaysia - arrived in the capital yesterday (Tuesday) to participate in the ICC/ACC Under-17 Asia Cup Cricket beginning on Thursday. Ten teams, split into two groups, will compete for the Youth Asia Cup at six different venues in Dhaka and Savar. Participating teams: Group A – India, Sri Lanka, UAE, Malaysia and Oman. Group B - Pakistan, Bangladesh, Singapore, Nepal and Kuwait. Four matches will be held on the opening day (Thursday). Hosts Bangladesh will take on Nepal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, Sri Lanka face Oman at the number one ground of BKSP in Savar, India meet UAE at the BKSP ground two and Pakistan play Kuwait at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium. A 16-member Kuwait team and a 17-member Pakistan squad reached the city in the morning while the Malaysian team arrived in the evening. The remaining six teams — Oman, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sri Lanka, Nepal, India and Singapore - are expected to reach here today (Wednesday). Tournament director Anil Kalaver of Singapore and ICC development manager for Asia region Nasim-ul-Ghani is already in city. Cricket ambassador Ravi Shastri of India and ICC development manager Andrew Eade are expected today (Wednesday). Meanwhile, Pakistan and Kuwait teams made practice at the Bangabandhu National Stadium last (Tuesday) afternoon. |
